If you haven’t heard, there is a concept of for a new Pontiac. First off, yes, they are done for and somehow still making cars. Either way, after the new Camaro was released back in early 2010 talks of bringing back “The Chicken” have been going on here and there in back alleys. They eventually made it to Car And Driver where they uncovered it would be the Firebird with a power plant from the G8.
Luckily, the Supercar Show, that is put on by the Auto Gallery of Calabasas, just so happened to have a pre-production ‘bird out. I understand that the Camaro and Firebird have always been very similar in the looks departments, and, in the past, both cars looked pretty good. (Referring to the late 60′s models of course.) With all due respect, this all-new car should go back to the drawing board and have some new body panels designed. Put it this way, when I was talking to my boy A-Low, Allan Gungormez, I described the car as a new Camaro that made it to Pimp My Ride. The body kit that warps the Camaro into the Firebird is an eye sore in the front and identical to the Camaro in the rear. Can you say budget cuts?? Let’s hope they are sneaking in motor with meat to it like back in the days when Pontiac was the performance division of GM. Got to bring back their name somewhere.
Tomorrow starts the beginning of the LA Auto Show for the press and runs for the next week. We will be there Saturday, November 20th and Friday November 26th to bring ya’ll up-to-date with what’s in store from the manufacturers. We are definitely going to be making a stop at the GM booths to see this new Firebird.
Ready to get the new LS from Lexus A? It has TheSkrilla posted all over it.
‘Til next time. Ride on.
